Paintings; 2010-2011
I am interested in transforming the mundane to the magical, seeing the extraordinary in the everyday and the surreal in the real. This collection of miniature paintings explores these ideas. My subjects are usually buildings, vehicles or objects that are usually derelict, but they interest me due to their eccentricity or anthropomorphic quality. Using the medium of Acrylic with other mixed media, I try to bring these subjects alive, and transform them into characters. I feel that by painting this eclectic mix of subjects texturally, and often semi 3-dimensionally, I am giving them a new lease of live, into tiny stage sets with an almost immortal quality.
